May 6th - Agape concert at 7PM at the Barbara Morse Wackford Community Center in Elk Grove (Bruceville/Big Horn Blvd). The concert is free and an
African dinner is served between 5-7PM (email us or call us for tickets for the dinner).
Concerts include live band, recording artists: threefour:one, Shellie Nichol, Kelly Kynaston and Jessy Vera and Emily Glidden of Cornerstone, Living Water Worship Team, Choir (Danna and Karen sing too!) testimonies and speaker, Darla Calhoun (founder of Agape) and footage of the street children and Agape boys. It's a powerful night of worship you don't want to miss! Free will offering and sales of the He Knows My Name CD will go to Agape's Building Program. ![]() "It was an encounter that changed my life. After my sisters and I gave a concert in the Sacramento area, a middle-aged woman with a sweet, gentle face approached me and introduced herself as Darla Calhoun. I felt an instant connection with her, even a kindred spirit. She began to tell me about a home and school for street boys she began ten years ago in Africa, called Agape Children's Ministry. Tears filled my eyes as she told me of the thousands of street children in Kenya; many of them orphaned by AIDS, abused and rejected; all of them considered outcasts of their society. "Darla was a missionary nurse and although the street children were not the focus of her mission at the time, she was drawn to them. Eventually she rented a small home in Kisumu, Kenya, and one by one began to give them what they were so desperate for: food, shelter, love and acceptance. "These boys are treasures, not trash," Darla said as she told me that in Kenya, the young girls could work in the homes, whereas boys are often driven to the streets. I am a mother of three boys myself, and I could not imagine them trying to fend for themselves on the street for weeks or even years.
